This realistic painting of a golden retriever asks the viewer to question the status quo. To me, the dogged commitment to WINNING, no matter the cost, is embodied in this image of a obedient Golden Retriever retrieving the news of the day, while wading through an oil-slicked beach, and ignoring a gulls territory. Was this the "Mother of all Wars?"
This painting is about the irresponsible sending the innocent to retrieve that which is lost to the self-serving. Things that are destroyed in the process is irrelevant to 'reaching the objective'.
As I read the news reports and watched the fires pump poisonous gas into the air, rhetoric like 'surgical strike' and 'scorched earth' seemed irrational and inconceivable as so much was destroyed in so short a time. The greed to 'dominate and command' on a global scale has terrorized many nations around the world.
Today we fight over oil. Which generation will be prepared to face the ugly reality of fighting the 'mother of all ecological wars' just to have clean air to breath and pure water to drink?
