The Yaminahua has slicked down his hair with a mixture of red Achiote dye and tree sap. The Hoatzin is an ancient species of bird that digests leaves with two stomachs, similarly to a cow. He also has naturally curly red feathers on his head. The Punk Rocker seems oblivious to all that surrounds him, but he too has dyed his hair red and spiked it.
People of all cultures adorn themselves with objects. Each person chooses their own unique forms of expression from the elements available in the environment. The similarities are sometimes as startling as the differences. Birds and animals embellish themselves for attraction or to blend with their environment. Adornment is designed to display and communicate a ‘visual statement’ for those around to see.
