Sedona Artists Mary Helsaple fetured in Seasons and Cycles art exhibition

"Raven Mad" is selected for the "Seasons and Cycles" art exhibit at the Herberger Theater Center in downtown Phoenix from October 3. 2015 to January 3, 2016. The public opening reception is on Friday, October 3, 2015 from 5-7:30 pm.

A "blind" jury of an esteemed panel of artists chose 38 pieces of artwork from 488 qualified submissions. The guest curator of the exhibit is Georgia Michalicek.

This painting is a 3-D sculptural Watercolor.  I used an expanded technique of traditional watercolor with multiple painted, overlapping paper images, cutout, embossed and raised above the surface. The rope, flowers, rocks on the cliff, grass, carbiner, and bracelet on the climber are cut-out.

Humans explore opportunities to challenge our endurance and land-locked agility skills.  Often these activities place us in the path of other inhabitants in that environment, and they may not appreciate the daring quests of the adventurous. "Look who is trying to get our babies" So, make friends and tread lightly.
