Grand Canyon Painting Expedition

In September 1999, the Grand Canyon Trust hosted fifteen painters, led by Sedona artist, Curt Walters, to raft the Colorado River.  From this 10-day painting/ rafting expedition  came a unique body of art capturing the power and beauty of the mile-deep Grand Canyon.  The artists have donated their extraordinary  work to the Grand Canyon Trust and the Colorado Plateau.  The art is for sale to benefit the Grand Canyon Trust's Conservation work.

Trip was documented by Photographer Larry Lindahl and writer Kathleen Bryant, of Sedona, AZ.

During my visit to the Grand Canyon, I kept  a painting and  written journal of the many interesting things I saw, and of my impressions of the colors and details on my experiences.   I use these notes to refresh my memories and to inspire my larger studio paintings.

Click on each of the GCJ numbers below or the left  to view each page of the journal.  Some of the paintings from this trip are on the website under Scenics.
